Llantwit is not alone in the Vale in having strong links with communities in France. Our nearest neighbour in the Vale, Cowbridge, has a long-standing twinning with Clisson (also in Loire Atlantique), and the Llantwit twinning group visited Clisson on its trip to Le Pouliguen in September 2022.
Other towns in the Vale are also twinned with towns in France. Where known, we have included the relevant links to their twinning association websites below.
Bridgend - Villenave d’Ornon, Aquitaine http://bridgendtowntwinning.co.uk/
Cowbridge – Clisson, Loire-Atlantique http://www.cowbridge-twinning.co.uk/
Pencoed – Plouzané, Brittany https://pencoedtowntwinning.webs.com
A close neighbour of Plouzané, Le Conquet, is also twinned with Llandeilo in Carmarthenshire - see https://www.llandeilotwinning.co.uk/
Porthcawl was previously twinned with Saint Sebastien sur Loire, a suburb of Nantes, but regrettably the official twinning has come to an end, at least temporarily. We understand that informal visits between residents of the two communities continue.
The Llantwit Town Twinning Association remains supportive of all twinning links between the Vale of Glamorgan and our closest neighbours in Europe.
