My Recollections

Having 4 Guests for several days

Arrival

My wife and I were lucky to have 4 lovely French guests stay for the duration of the twinning visit.

Last year I had stayed with Yvonnick and so naturally he was my guest this year. Also were Marie Beatrice and Mr & Mrs Dounont, Frederic and Rejane.

Frederick and Yvonnick cycled from Le Pouliguen to the channel port, about 340km.

Itinerary

There was a busy schedule for the 4 days of their visit.

Included were the Llantwit Major 10k run. Both Frederic and Yvonnick ran the race, while others helped marshal.

We also visited St Fagans Museum, Cardiff Castle and had lunch in Cardiff Bay having journeyed by boat from the castle.

There was also time for a walk along our wonderful coastline to admire the limestone pavements and inlets

The formal Diner and Dance was held in the Ballroom of the Duke of Wellington in Cowbridge. Tradition Pie was served and appreciated by all.

Another evening meal we had a traditional Fish and Chip supper. The event was held in Mayor Powell’s Barn and included a traditional Bingo session and a DJ; which was me.

The Llantwit Major 10k run was taking place on the same weekend, this was no accident!

Four members of the twinning party ran the race and all enjoyed it immensely. I would have run too, but for the fact that I was on the organising team and was required on duty. The weather was good for the event but a patch of rain caught the less speedy participants at the end.

It was a fun packed time and we enjoyed it immensely. It was a pleasure to have our guests staying.
