Town Twinning Returns to Llantwit Major

After a gap of 10 years, Town Twinning has returned to Llantwit Major! Between August 31st and September 7th, twenty-one members of the re-formed Town Twinning Association, including the Town Mayor, Councillor Gerwyn Thomas, and the headteacher of St. Illtyd’s School, Mr. Roger Hardy, visited Le Pouliguen in southern Brittany.

The hospitality provided by our French hosts was outstanding and the visit was a resounding success. Excursions were arranged to a vineyard, the historic towns of Clisson and Vannes, and the Gulf of Morbihan by boat. Various sports clubs and organisations in Le Pouliguen are keen to organise exchanges in the future and plans are already being made for the French to visit Llantwit Major next year.

If you are interested in joining the Association, please contact John Deakin, the secretary. The Association’s AGM will be on Tuesday October 18th at 7.00 p.m. in the Llantwit Major Bowls Club. All current members are invited to attend and new members are always very welcome. The Association will be organising a series of fund-raising social events over the next year, so watch this space!
